Maintenance management for terminal equipment and asset uptime

A crane that stops during peak unload does not just cost a repair. It costs fourteen trucks waiting, a missed rail window and a shift that drags its delay all the way to the end. Most of those stoppages started as a minor warning nobody recorded.

Essentos MROP is maintenance software for terminal cranes and gates that exists so that warning never gets lost. Every incident is logged with equipment, zone, symptom and priority from the failure point. Maintenance receives the alert instantly. Operations knows which assets are available. The shift supervisor decides whether to reassign load or schedule the intervention. Cranes, weighbridges, gate doors, reach stackers, wagons: all under the same control, on the Essentos C-CORE architecture, in terminals across Spain, Europe and the United States.

Reactive

RTG-02 shows a hydraulic leak. The operator calls it in by radio. The shift supervisor jots it down. The paper note is lost at handover. Two hours later, the same crane stops in the middle of an unload. Maintenance steps in under pressure. Meanwhile, fourteen trucks wait and the train load is delayed.

Preventive

The incident is opened from the panel: RTG-02, hydraulic leak, north yard, high priority, photos attached. Maintenance receives it instantly. At 07:15, the technician confirms intervention at 08:30. Operations reassigns load to another crane. The unload does not stop. When the order closes: symptom, action, replaced part and repair time.

Incident, repair and asset availability control

  • Open incidents with equipment, zone, symptom, priority and photo from the point where the failure is detected
  • Generate work orders with deadline, assigned technician, required parts and status visible to the shift supervisor
  • Check which assets are operational right now: cranes, weighbridges, gate doors, reach stackers and wagons
  • Build per-asset history: every intervention, every part, every cost. Ready for warranties, audits and replacement decisions

Maintenance and operations share the same status view. No incident is lost between shifts. No asset is out of service without the team knowing.

Preventive maintenance based on real terminal patterns

Most avoidable stoppages start as small incidents nobody connected. MROP detects recurrences from the data the terminal already generates:

  • Same crane, same hydraulic symptom, three times in six weeks. Automatic pattern alert
  • Gate doors with failures concentrated in the weeks after peak season
  • Reach stackers needing brake service every 400 operating hours
  • Yard zones with surface wear that multiplies tire and axle failures

The terminal schedules service before a minor incident turns into a stoppage. Preventive maintenance based on data, not on a calendar.

Asset history that answers the questions that matter

How many interventions has this crane had in the last year? How much was spent on parts? When is it smarter to replace than repair? How do you justify the investment to leadership? MROP records every intervention, part and closing with time, technician and outcome. Operations, maintenance and leadership look at the same history.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between MROP and a generic CMMS for maintenance software for terminal cranes and gates?

MROP is maintenance management for terminal equipment built to coordinate with daily operations. A generic CMMS manages assets but does not connect the intervention to the operational flow of the terminal. MROP adds that coordination layer on the Essentos C-CORE architecture, used by terminals in Spain, Europe and the United States.

Can MROP record maintenance for any equipment?

Yes. Cranes, reach stackers, spreaders, RTGs, gates, weighbridges and any operational terminal asset.
